Mother Teresa (1910-1997) was an Albanian-Indian nun & missionary of the Roman Catholic faith. She founded the Missionaries of Charity in 1950, a religious group that now has over 5000 members and operates in over 130 countries to serve their local communities. The Missionaries run hundreds of houses for people suffering from terminal diseases offering them end-of-life care, along with providing dispensaries, orphanages, soup kitchens, mobile clinics and a whole host of other services, vowing to provide “wholehearted free service to the poorest of the poor.” Mother Teresa was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 and was beatified by the Catholic Church in 2016, officially making her a Saint.
