Osho (1931-1990), also known as Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, was an Indian spiritual guru & mystic. A charismatic & mercurial force of personality, Osho founded the Rajneesh Movement, a new religious movement that attracted the deepest of devotees, known as neo-sanyassins, and the most fervent of haters — an explosive conflict that sent shockwaves through the socio-political landscape of the 1980s. His singular iconoclasm championed a refusal to recognise codified social morality, conformism and institutional religion, urging people to instead be mindful of life through free thought, meditation, humour & love. He is survived today through his teachings that continue to disseminate through the consciousness of modern society via a staggering 650 books created using his many lectures and over 750 Osho Centres spread across more than 60 countries worldwide.
